Only registered Afghan refugees entitled for repatriation assistance
13. May 2008, 03:13

ISLAMABAD (APP): Only registered Afghan refugees are entitled to receive the United Nation Higher Commission for Refugees (UNHCR) assistance through the voluntary repatriation process to Afghanistan.

Those Afghan refugees who have Proof of Registration (PoR) card issued by the Pakistan’s National Database and Registration Authority (NADRA) would be eleigible to get assiastance, says a press release here Tuesday.

UNHCR offices in Afghanistan will not assist returning Afghans who have not gone through the voluntary repatriation process in Pakistan and don’t carry a valid voluntary repatriation form.

Afghans without this arrangement and with any other

documentation or reference letters will not be entertained,

UNHCR offices in Pakistan and Afghanistan have not commissioned any non-governmental organization (NGO) to collect information about the non-registered Afghans in Pakistan.

Afghan refugees are advised not to make payments to any organizations to get help in facilitating the voluntary repatriation process.
