PESHAWAR (The News) - Pak-Afghan friendship bus service formally started on Friday with the departure of first bus carrying 22 passengers from Peshawar to Jalalabad.
NWFP Minister of Transport Akhtar Nawaz Khan bid farewell to the passengers traveling from Pakistan to Afghanistan.
Talking to newsmen during the inauguration of the bus service, the minister said the fare between Peshawar and Jalalabad was fixed Rs 300, however, 50 percent discount was given to the passengers on the first day of the bus service.
The government has allowed a private transport group to operate five buses daily; each having 36 seats, on the international route, while a bus of Pakistan Tourism Development Corporation (PTDC) would ply on alternative routes.
Chairman United Transport Company Zakiria Khan while talking to Geo News said that the passengers traveling from Pakistan to Afghanistan must have all necessary travel documents.
Peshawar-Jalalabad bus service was delayed for two months due to non-availability of space for terminal in Peshawar, he said.
