Asfandyar opposes ban on Afghan trucks
25. May 2006, 13:15

PESHAWAR (The News) - Awami National Party Chief Asfandyar Wali Khan has strongly opposed ban on entry of Afghan trucks into Pakistan by the government and demanded immediate reversal of the decision.

In a statement issued here on Wednesday, the ANP leader banning the entry of Afghan trucks being used for Afghan Transit Trade and rebuilding process is violation of international laws as well as transit agreement struck between two governments.

Asfandyar lamented that relations between the two sides is already tense and the decision would intensify it. He said tension between the two countries would directly affect the Pukhtoons living on the Durand Line who have already suffered by Afghan war and now so-called war on terror.

The ANP leader asked the government to play its role in re-building of Afghanistan and immediately take the decision back.
